"I Believe in You"

This was the title of the message Pastor Mark gave today at CrossRoads Community Church. It was a great message. Too often I am critical of my wife and kids and those around me and too quick to point out the negatives. Do I tell them enough though that "I believe in you"? If I don't, I am sorry and I will work at doing a better job of being an encourager. I know that is something that I desire, to know that my family and those closest to me believe in me so, in knowing this desire of myself, I should certainly work harder at letting those closest to me know that I believe in them. Bottom line is, God believes in all of us, He wouldn't have sent his son for us if He didn't. But, we're still human, and even though I know this of my heavenly father, I still need to know it from my earthly father and those close to me. It's important to me. So, Tammy, Chelsea, Lindsey, and everyone else close to me.... I DO believe in you, am proud of you just for being you, and am so thankful for all of you in my life. "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Ephesians 4:29 (NIV) I have a race to go get ready for now... wish me luck.

Just happened by your blog and I am just curious if your wife has a running blog as well I am just starting out running, and plan to do the free press marathon in October. I'm just looking for other Michigander women who are either just beginning running or who have just started within the last few years (so they remember what it was like to be a newbie to the sport). My husband and I are in Milford.

Well first off, thanks for dropping in Karen and welcome! To answer your questions, my wife does not have her own blog, but she does log her runs (when I force her to) at runningahead.com as do I. It is a great site for any active enthusiast (you can log all kinds of exercise activities there), but in particular, runners, and has an awesome community of runners of all abilities and experiences. Are you following any "new runner" programs, like the "Couch to 5K" (C25k) or a novice marathon training program? My two recommendations to you in just starting out are: 1. Don't try to do too much too fast mileage or pace-wise as you will run a high risk of injury, which will derail what you are trying to do and, 2. Create a free account on RunningAHEAD and log all your runs there which will also allow you to keep track of the mileage on your shoes, which is important for replacement (again to avoid injuries). As said, the community there is an awesome source of information and encouragement as well. If there is anything else I can do for you, please feel free to ask here or e-mail me at rtvelich@buckeye-express. com (omit space). Thanks again for coming by!

Great! Thanks for the tips. Running Ahead sounds great and I had not heard of it until your suggestion. I am pretty much following the Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer. My husband won't be able to do this with me this year (inconvenient timing with work) but one of my four sons more than likely can be convinced to give it a try.

Thanks for swingin' by Jennifer! Very nice to hear from the west coast. Even though I have climate-envy! My sister lived in Oceanside for a number of years and moved to Richmond, VA about 12 years ago or so. I LOVED the San Diego area!

Marion rocks... as do you, Jennifer! Yet another RA inspiration for me. ;-)
